Guest House in Southport
About Me
Hello. My name is Barbara Godfrey, I was born in Southport but raised in Crosby, Merseyside.
I have been in the Catering Hospitality industry since the age of 14, when I started by washing dishes for my dad who was then the Head Chef of the former Blundellsands Hotel in Crosby.
At the age of 20 I enrolled into Whitbread Beefeater Restaurants’ Management Training programme and became a successful manager at age 22. In my 15-year Whitbread career, I achieved many promotions and won many prestigious awards and prizes while running Beefeater Restaurants all over the south of England.
I bought my first business, a 20-bedroomed Hotel in Lytham St. Anne’s, and ran it successfully, living happily there for over 10 years.
I moved to Southport in 2011 and went to work for Whitbread Premier Inn. In 2016 I bought 21 Bath Street, then known as the Sandown Hotel and renamed it The Captain’s Quarters. It underwent a major refurbishment, including rewiring and replastering as absolutely everything needed renewing. In 2018, I bought 25 Bath Street, called the Andora Guest House.
I continue to invest a good percentage of income back into the businesses annually, refreshing, upgrading and renewing, I believe this to be an important factor to keep growing and developing my businesses.
My businesses are my life – I love what I do, living in the heart of Southport and I am passionate about offering a good night’s sleep at an affordable price.
