COVID-19 – the health and wellbeing of our guests and staff is of the highest priority to us here at the Andora Guest House. In addition to our usual high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, additional safety measures are now in place to comply with government guidelines. See our dedicated COVID policy for more information on these new measures.
Hello. My name is Barbara Godfrey, I was born in Southport but raised in Crosby, Merseyside.
I have been in the Catering Hospitality industry since the age of 14, when I started by washing dishes for my dad who was then the Head Chef of the former Blundellsands Hotel in Crosby.
At the age of 20 I enrolled into Whitbread Beefeater Restaurants’ Management Training programme and became a successful manager at age 22. In my 15-year Whitbread career, I achieved many promotions and won many prestigious awards and prizes while running Beefeater Restaurants all over the south of England.
I bought my first business, a 20-bedroomed Hotel in Lytham St. Anne’s, and ran it successfully, living happily there for over 10 years.
I moved to Southport in 2011 and went to work for Whitbread Premier Inn. In 2016 I bought 21 Bath Street, then known as the Sandown Hotel and renamed it The Captain’s Quarters. It underwent a major refurbishment, including rewiring and replastering as absolutely everything needed renewing. In 2018, I bought 25 Bath Street, called the Andora Guest House.
I continue to invest a good percentage of income back into the businesses annually, refreshing, upgrading and renewing, I believe this to be an important factor to keep growing and developing my businesses.
My businesses are my life – I love what I do, living in the heart of Southport and I am passionate about offering a good night’s sleep at an affordable price.

We have limited Free Parking at the front of our building on the forecourt: 4 spaces in a block formation of 2 cars in front and 2 cars behind. When the forecourt is full, we have Council approved, seasonal street parking permits; this allows our guests to park in the street behind. This is a free service, however, to ensure the safe return of these permits we do ask for a cash deposit, which is refunded to guest once the permit is returned.
We ask guests who require parking to arrive early to ensure a space. If all parking is full and permits are in use, later arrivals can avail of free street parking from 6pm till 8am nightly and with extra hours from 6pm Saturday till 11.00a.m on Sunday. Also, a nearby car park usually has availability at a cost of £3 per 24 hours.
